Disney Plus Hotstar is riding high on the popularity of Save The Tigers and is all set to launch a new series aimed at a younger audience. The show, called Dead Pixels, will feature Niharika Konidela, Viva Harsha, Akshay Lagusani, and Sai Ronak in prominent roles and is scheduled to debut on the 19th of this month. Aditya Mandala is the director of the series.
The trailer of Dead Pixels, released on Tuesday, depicts a group of tech enthusiasts who are fixated on a video game. The series revolves around how the game drastically alters their lives and the challenges that the four of them encounter. Niharika Konidela, who is returning to the screen after a long hiatus, looks stunning in her part as a software worker who has romantic feelings for one of her gaming buddies.
Viva Harsha delivers a fantastic performance in his role as a family man. Director Aditya Mandala has kept the main conflict straightforward and explores the consequences of the younger generation's gaming obsession. The trailer also features the amusing concept of marrying someone solely for a video game, adding an element of comedy to the series.
Talking about the show, Sameer Gogate, General Manager, BBC Studios Production India said that they are delighted to partner with Disney+ Hotstar and Tamada Media for this modern comedy. "This immersive British format provides an insight into the lives of new-age introverts and depicts their relationships and social interactions," he told The Hindu.
Saideep Reddy Borra and Rahul Tamada, the producers and co-founders of Tamada Media said, "We are pleased to partner with BBC Studios India and Disney+ Hotstar to bring an intriguing story, a modern comedy, to our local audience. This adaptation was a fun project to work on and can't wait to share it with everyone now."
Akshay Poolla has written this series, which is being produced by BBC Studios for Disney+ Hotstar. The show features Akshay Lagusani, Bhavana Sagi, Rajeev Kanakala, Bindu Chandramouli, and Jayasree Rachakonda in pivotal roles.
The original Dead Pixels series was created and written by Jon Brown, directed by Al Campbell, and produced for UK's Channel 4's E4, while its second series was directed by Jamie Jay Johnson. It was well-received and became the channel's top comedy launch in five years.
Disney+ Hotstar has a diverse selection of other shows, including Save The Tigers, Anger Tales, Veera Simha Reddy, O Kala, Raajahyogam, Sridevi Shoban Babu, and Sadha Nannu Nadipe.
