Dhanush’s father, Kasthuri Raja, has finally broken his silence and reportedly reacted to Nayanthara’s open letter following the controversy surrounding her Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale. The controversy escalated after she accused Dhanush of 'festering vengeance' in the letter.
Nayanthara made headlines on Saturday after posting an open letter addressed to Dhanush, expressing her frustration over not receiving approval to use footage and songs from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan for her documentary Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale. In response, Dhanush has taken legal action, serving a substantial Rs 10-crore notice to the producers of the upcoming documentary following the release of its trailer last week.
While Dhanush has not officially commented on the claims yet, reports carrying a statement from his father, Kasthuri Raja, are surfacing online.
According to a statement to The Times of India’s Samayam, Kasthuri Raja said that Nayanthara’s claims of following up with Dhanush for two years are false. He also revealed that Dhanush is focused solely on his work and doesn't have the time to respond to her claims. “Work is important to us. We are moving ahead. There is no time to answer those who chase us or those who talk about us behind our backs. Like me, my son is focused only on work. As Nayanthara said, waiting for two years is not true information. He said, 'I don’t want to talk about it,’” he said.
In her controversial open letter, Nayanthara claimed, “After two long years of battling it out with you for an NOC (No Objection Certificate) and waiting for your approval for our Netflix documentary release, we finally decided to give up, re-edit, and settle for the current version since you declined to permit the usage of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan songs or visual cuts, even the photographs, despite multiple requests.”
Nayanthara expressed her disappointment, saying, “What’s even more shocking is your legal notice after the release of the trailer of the Netflix documentary. We were startled to read those lines wherein you questioned the usage of some videos (just 3 seconds long) which were shot on our personal devices—BTS visuals that are already very much publicly available on social media—and claimed a sum of Rs. 10 crores as damages for those mere 3 seconds. This is an all-time low for you and says so much about your character. I wish you were half the person you portray yourself to be on stage during audio launches in front of your innocent fans, but clearly, you do not practice what you preach—at least not with me and my partner.”
In the ongoing controversy, seven of Dhanush's former female co-stars have come out in support of Nayanthara.
