Ayushmann Khurrana’s most interesting character of his career is finally returning to the big screens. Essaying the role of Pooja in ‘Dream Girl 2’, the film is his biggest hit at the domestic box office till date and thus the anticipation for its sequel has been high, since the film’s announcement. Most of the core cast of the film has been retained, while Ananya Panday is the new addition to the film, replacing Nushratt Bharuccha.

The trailer of ‘Dream Girl 2’ was recently released and has received positive feedback from the audience. The same is reflected in the advance booking sales statistics. According to a report in Pinkvilla, ‘Dream Girl 2’ sold around 14 thousand tickets in top 3 national chains i.e. Inox, Cinepolis, and PVR. Around 2 days prior to its release, and the way the film is trending, the film is expected to sell 60 thousand tickets ahead of its release.

The advance bookings of the film so far indicate an opening of around Rs 9 crores. The makers are hoping that the content of the film clicks so that it can have a positive run till the release of ‘Jawan’ on September 7. Several trade circle analysts are skeptical about the acceptance of ‘Dream Girl 2’ due to the treatment of its lead actor. Ayushmann Khurrana will be essaying the role of Karam, but will also be playing as Pooja through most of the film.

Lately, the actor hasn’t had a good run at the box office. Talking about the plot of ‘Dream Girl 2’, Karam aka Ayushmann Khurrana, is a small-town boy from Mathura and is struggling to pay his father’s debt. On the other hand, he is deeply in love with Pari aka Ananya Panday, whose father has kept certain conditions to marry her. To make ends meet, Karam poses as Pooja, which creates chaos across the city followed by errors and comic twists. The film will hit theatres on August 25.
