Taapsee Pannu recently spoke about uncomfortable demands in South Indian cinema. While promoting her latest film, Assi, Taapsee revealed that she was asked to wear padded bras on the sets of her films to make her look more attractive. Taapsee shared that she was embarrassed by such demands and how much importance was given to the looks of actresses in South Indian cinema.

In a recent podcast with Shubhankar Mishra, Taapsee talked about the weird requests she received while doing Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam movies. She said, “South films me bhi actresses ko padded bra pehnne ko bola jata hai. Problem ye hoti hai ki set par heroine ko ye baat batane ke liye ladkiyan bahut kam hoti hain. Director AD ko bolta hai, fir wo hair ya style team ki didi ko batate hain. Socho kitna embarrassing hota hai jab song shoot ke beech actress ko uthkar jana padta hai aur sab dekhte rehte hain kya change hua. Fir bolte hain difference samajh nahi aa raha, wapas jao.”

Taapsee feels that in many South Indian films, a lot of emphasis is given to the heroine’s physical appearance. She said that the makers feel that if they can improve the heroine’s looks, they can attract the audience and satisfy their fantasy. However, she admitted that this made her feel uncomfortable sometimes.
