Zubeen Garg Death Case: In a fresh update in Assamese Singer Zubeen Garg's death case, new developments have unfolded. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday claimed that Zubeen Garg was murdered in Singapore, stating that the singer's death was not an accident. He also revealed that the charge sheet in this case will be filled by December 8. Garg passed away at the age of 52 on September 19, 2025, in Singapore, reportedly while swimming without a life jacket. The Chief Minister’s recent statements have taken the investigation in a direction, adding a shocking twist to the singer's death case.
Assam CM Claims Zubeen Garg Was Murdered In Singapore
Sarma was quoted by news agency PTI as saying, "I am not terming it an accident. The charge-sheet in Zubeen Garg's murder case needs to be submitted by December 17. I have set a target to submit it by December 8. We are ready now."

Zubeen Garg Death Investigation
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Assam Police is currently probing Garg's death. Recently, two police officers travelled to Singapore to investigate the case. After their visit, CID Special DGP Munna Prasad Gupta confirmed that Singapore officials have already provided the singer's postmortem report through the Indian High Commission. According to a report in NDTV, he stated that cooperation from Singapore authorities is essential, as the investigation in India must be completed within 90 days.

On the process of filing the charge-sheet, Sarma stated, "If any incident takes place abroad, an approval is required from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Yesterday, I met Union Home Minister Amit Shah to get an approval soon."
So far, seven people have been arrested in connection with Zubeen Garg's death case. They are currently in judicial custody and have been booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for charges including murder, culpable homicide not amounting to murder, criminal conspiracy and causing death by negligence.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) is also conducting an independent investigation into the matter of Garg's alleged drowning in the sea while swimming in Singapore.
As per several reports, in a statement on October 17, the SPF revealed that preliminary investigations have not indicated any foul play in Garg's death.
