Is Kangana Ranaut Returning As Rani In Queen 2?

Queen 2 In Works? Kangana Ranaut is reportedly returning to her most iconic role Rani from Queen movie. Reports confirm that the sequel, Queen 2, is finally moving into production, with filming scheduled to commence by the end of April 2026.

Directed by Vikas Bahl, the 2014 original followed a sheltered girl from Rajouri Garden who embarked on a solo honeymoon to Paris and Amsterdam after being left at the altar. The sequel, however, promises a significant shift in tone and setting, reflecting the evolution of both the character and the country.

According to reports in Mid-Day, Queen 2 will be rooted entirely within India. The narrative will follow Rani as she navigates a fresh journey of self-realisation triggered by a major life event. While the original saw her as a naive small-town girl, the sequel will reportedly portray her as a city-based character who is independent, sharp and unconventional.

According to reports, the production will begin in a Mumbai studio. While Kangana Ranaut is confirmed to reprise her role, reports suggest that Rajkummar Rao and Lisa Haydon are unlikely to return for the sequel.

Meanwhile, speaking about the significance of the character, Kangana Ranaut has previously expressed her deep connection to Rani, noting that, "He isn’t just a king, he is our identity." The original Queen earned widespread critical acclaim and several National Awards, setting an incredibly high bar for this sequel.
