Kannappa Release:  Vishnu Manchu and Akshay Kumar starrer Telugu mythological action movie Kannappa is set to release in theatres on June 27. A few days ahead of its screen debut, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) passed the film with a U/A 13+ certificate. It was the Revising Committee (RC) that approved Kannappa after the Examining Committee (EC) raised objections. It requested several cuts to the film. They asked the makers of the film to delete and change certain visuals, including ‘blood, dead bodies, decapitations, and close-ups of arrow piercings’. One 4-second shot of sunset silhouette was also removed. 

The cut list also includes removal of visuals which has a yellow-red colour, lasting 21 seconds. Another cut is a computer-generated text which has some tribal names. Another scene features water on a deity instead of a close-up of a leg on the deity. RC also demanded the removal of words in the dialogues, including Pilaka, Gilaka, Chavata, Veedu, Vadu and Anubhavista. Another dialogue Okadikemo…Gopikalanta was also removed.

The filmmakers also asked to include a disclaimer with a voice-over stating that the movie is a work of fiction inspired by the tale of devotee Bhakta Kannappa of Sri Kalahasti Temple, near Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. The disclaimer also added that the movie does not intend to offend any community or religious sentiments. The certificate was issued to the makers on June 19. The total duration of Kannappa is 195.02 minutes/ 3 hours, 15 minutes and 2 seconds. The makers approached CBFC again and then 10 scenes were deleted. The film also stars Vishnu Manchu as Thinnadu alias Kannappa, Mohan Babu as Mahadeva Shasthri, R. Sarathkumar as Nathanathudu, Madhoo as Pannaga, Mukesh Rishi as Kampadu and Brahmaji as Gavvaraju. The movie has cameo appearances of actors, including Mohanlal as Kirata, Prabhas as Rudra, Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva and Kajal Aggarwal as Goddess Parvati. It has been directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced by Mohan Babu. Kannappa was made on a budget of Rs 200 crore.
