Mouni Roy recently opened up about a disturbing incident from her early days in Bollywood that left a lasting impact on her. She began her journey with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and later gained fame through shows like Kasturi, Devon Ke Dev Mahadev, and Naagin. Her Bollywood debut came in 2018 opposite Akshay Kumar in Gold, followed by notable performances in Romeo Akbar Walter, Made in China, and Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva, where she impressed audiences as Junoon. Mouni will next appear in the romantic comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, directed by David Dhawan, alongside Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur, which is set to hit theatres in 2026.
Appearing on Apoorva Mukhija’s talk show Spice It Up, the Naagin actress revealed that while she was never subjected to the casting couch, she did experience shocking misbehaviour at the age of just 21. Behind the glitz and glamour of Bollywood, Mouni’s story highlights the uncomfortable experiences many newcomers face while trying to make their mark in the industry. When asked if she had ever encountered inappropriate behaviour in the industry, Mouni said, “Casting couch toh nahi hua, but badtameezi hui hai.”

Meanwhile, she went on to share that the incident occurred when she visited an office for a narration session. The people present there were explaining a scene where the female character falls into a swimming pool, loses consciousness, and the hero revives her through mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. What followed, however, left her deeply shaken. Recalling the incident, Mouni Roy revealed that the man giving the narration suddenly held her face and demonstrated the mouth-to-mouth act on her without consent.

The Gold actress shared, “In that one split second, I didn’t understand what had happened. I started trembling and immediately ran out of the office,” describing how the experience traumatised her. Without disclosing the identity of the person involved Mouni explained that the incident left a deep emotional scar that took her a long time to recover from. She admitted that it was one of the most distressing moments of her early career and that it made her more cautious in future interactions.
