In a significant milestone for Indian music on the international stage, National Award-winning composer Shashwat Sachdev has teamed up with legendary composer Hans Zimmer for the title theme of the upcoming British television series Virdee. Zimmer, a two-time Academy Award winner known for iconic scores such as The Lion King, Inception and Interstellar, brings his unparalleled expertise to the project, making this collaboration a historic moment for Indian artists in global cinema.

Adding further prestige to the title track, the composition also features Emmy-winning British composer and producer James Everingham, celebrated for his work on Apollo: Missions to the Moon. This collaboration not only highlights Sachdev’s rising influence in the global music scene but also signals India’s growing footprint in international entertainment projects.

Produced under Hans Zimmer’s prestigious label, Extreme Music, the Virdee title theme brings together a unique fusion of musical traditions, seamlessly blending the soulful nuances of Indian classical music with the sweeping cinematic orchestration of the West.

For Shashwat Sachdev, the project marks a historic milestone — he becomes the first Indian to collaborate with Zimmer and the only Indian artist signed to Extreme Music, a label renowned for its lineup of global music icons, including Deadmau5, Quincy Jones, Snoop Dogg and Timbaland.

Virdee, adapted from A.A. Dhand’s bestselling novels, is a gripping crime drama set in contemporary England, centered on the morally complex world of detective Harry Virdee, portrayed by Staz Nair, alongside Aysha Kala and Kulvinder Ghir. Directed by Mark Tonderai, known for his work on Gotham and Locke & Key, the series promises an emotionally intense narrative, elevated by a score that is both atmospheric and universally resonant. With Hans Zimmer, James Everingham and Shashwat Sachdev collaborating on the title theme, Virdee is set to make a mark not just for its storytelling, but also for its music that bridges cultures and transcends borders.
