Poacher | What Works?

When a forest watcher feels sorry for taking part in killing elephants, it leads to uncovering many hidden crimes. Neel Banerjee, the calm Field Director, sees that his team isn't up to the task. So, he chooses Mala Jogi because she knows the villages really well. She understands the jungle like it's a close friend, hearing every little sound it makes.

As the spotlight shines on a woman amidst a backdrop of male police officers failing to unravel the truth behind the poaching of elephants, it marks a notable departure from the norm. The decision to entrust a woman inspector with such a significant project is praiseworthy. It underscores a recognition of her capabilities and an exit from traditional gender roles within law enforcement.

Richie Mehta uses investigative storytelling and strong explanations to tell the story in 'Poacher'. Important character details move the story along. The web series captures the scary yet beautiful forests of Kerala through Johan Huerlin Aidt's camera, which often focuses on shadows and vines where you might see wild animals like foxes and tigers.
