Music composer Pritam has finally addressed the controversy surrounding BLACKPINK Jennie’s latest track, Like Jennie, which some Indian fans believe sounds similar to the background theme for Alia Bhatt’s character in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
In recent days, social media has been abuzz with comparisons between Jennie’s track and Rani’s Anthem, the introduction theme for Alia’s character Rani in Karan Johar’s 2023 film. Many fans claimed that Jennie’s song had strikingly similar beats and flow, sparking plagiarism accusations.
Responding to the speculation, Pritam took to Instagram on Friday to clear the air. He shared a note stating, “Rani and Jennie are names that rhyme, so a similar flow in one phrase doesn’t make it a copy. In music, minor similarities are bound to happen—whether through rhymes, phrasing, or even within the same genre. Instead of focusing on tiny details, it’s important to see the bigger picture.”
He further emphasized that in today’s interconnected world, artists share platforms and influences, making it unlikely for anyone to deliberately copy another’s work.

Pritam urged music fans to appreciate creativity instead of looking for faults. “Music is about creativity, unique artistic perspective, influence, and sometimes pure coincidence—especially when artists exist on the same creative wavelength. Rather than tearing artists down, celebrating their work makes far more sense. Wishing Jennie all the best for the new album.”
Jennie’s solo track Like Jennie, set for release on March 7, was teased earlier this week. As soon as the snippet dropped, some Indian fans pointed out similarities in the song’s beats, rhythm and vocals to Rani’s Anthem. However, Pritam’s response seems to put an end to the plagiarism debate. Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt was last seen in Jigra and is gearing up for Love & War and Alpha.
