Samantha Ruth Prabhu celebrated her birthday on April 28, 2023. Though the Shaakuntalam actor wanted a low-key birthday with no surprises, her Citadel team surprised her on the set, pictures and videos of which she shared on her social media space.

On Friday, Samantha took to her Instagram handle and dropped a series of pictures and videos. The pictures have directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK surprising her on the sets of Citadel. Sharing the glimpses from her birthday celebrations on Instagram, The Family Man actor wrote, "The rules were simple.. - no surprises, - no cake, -certainly no f**in balloons, I clearly get what I want. The week that was."

In the video, Samantha is invited to enter one of the rooms, but she tries to flee when she sees they are going to surprise her. Krishna DK is recording the scene on his phone as she is dragged into the room by the Citadel squad. The floor is strewn with blue balloons, and the other Citadel staff members toss confetti at her as well. Samantha is embarrassed and taken aback by the onslaught.

The remaining photographs and videos include shots of the sky, a temple, a screenshot of the Gayatri mantra she was chanting, a video of her being the most well-known Indian celebrity on IMDb, and also a picture of her relaxing in an ice bath.

On the professional front, Samantha Ruth Prabhu was last seen in Shaakuntalam, alongside Dev Mohan. The movie failed to impress the audience in the theatres. She will also be seen in Kushi opposite Vijay Deverakonda. Samantha, along with Varun Dhawan will also headline the Indian version of Citadel, while Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden-starrer US version premiered on Amazon Prime Video on April 28, 2023.
