Indian stand up comedian Samay Raina, who recently got into a massive controversy related to some remarks made on his Show India’s Got Latent, expressed his solidarity with the Indian Armed Forces. The social media sensation, who hails from Jammu, shared an update about his father from his hometown post the successful neutralisation of drone and missile attacks by Pakistan in the city on May 7. He talked about the late-night call he had with his father to say ‘goodnight’ on Thursday. Samay shared that he could understand the calmness in his father’s voice, which removed his restless thoughts about his family’s safety.

Taking to his Instagram stories, Samay Raina wrote, “My father calls me one last time tonight from Jammu to say goodnight. His voice, steady and calm, urges me to sleep and not worry - the Indian armed forces have everything under control. His calmness quiets my restless thoughts. I switch off the lights in my Mumbai home and walk to the window to draw the curtains.”

He continued, “Outside my window, my neighbour's lights still glow. I know little about him, that’s just how it is here. I wonder if he, too, has family in Jammu, perhaps in Pathankot or if he might be the son of a brave soldier, who won’t sleep tonight, waiting for a morning call from his father on the front lines. My utmost respect to the armed forces and their families for all the sacrifices they make for our safety. Goodnight. Jai Hind.”

In an earlier Instagram story post, Samay Raina wrote, “My prayers are with everyone in Jammu. Sleep peacefully and believe in the Indian army. Jai Hind.”

On the evening of May 8, Pakistan launched drones and missiles in several places, including Jammu civil airport, Samba, RS Pura, Arnia and military stations. The attacks were intercepted by India’s S-400 defence systems. The aerial attacks took place after India conducted successful Operation Sindoor at several terror sites in Pakistan and Pok in the wee hours of May 7. The Indian operation was launched to avenge the Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of at least 26 people on April 22.
