Harshvardhan Rane is riding high on the success of the re-release of his 2016 movie Sanam Teri Kasam, as the film is receiving more response than its initial release. This film marked a turning point for him, earning him massive recognition. The actor has received love not only in theatres but also on social media. Being an outsider, he made a name for himself in the industry. Recently, Harshvardhan joined the debate about star kids and outsiders in the industry.

Harshvardhan Rane in a conversation with India Today, shared his views on nepotism in Bollywood. When asked whether star kids made him feel bitter about his career, he responded, “Honestly, I am someone who believes in writing things down rather than just believing the voices floating around me. When people talk about star kids getting all the opportunities, I write their names down and realize that 8 out of 10 have already vanished from the scene. Hence, I am unable to feel resentment when I do the math and realize how outsiders continue to get good work. How can we not look at their success? I can never bring myself to complain about it."

Revealing how outsiders have succeeded while many star kids didn’t find work after entering the industry, he said, "This is not some kind of positive affirmation, but it’s fact. I think every time someone has a doubt, they should make a note. There are no biases or partialities, just hard facts. Not many star kids have found work eventually, and it’s the outsiders who are at the top."

Harshvardhan entered the film industry in 2016 with the movie Sanam Teri Kasam, which re-released in theatres on February 7. The film also starred Mawra Hocane, marking her Bollywood debut. Despite a mixed response to its initial release, the film is now receiving a rave reception with its return to theatres.

Written and directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, Sanam Teri Kasam is backed by Deepak Mukut. The film also featured Anurag Sinha, Manish Chaudhari, Murli Sharma, and Sudesh Berry. Makers are all set to come up with Sanam Teri Kasam 2 next year.
