The movie has been declared tax-free in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. Moreover, the Deputy CM of Uttar Pradesh called the decision of making the film tax-free 'good'.
"Making 'The Kerala Story' tax-free is a very good decision. I want the people of Uttar Pradesh to watch this film and understand how our sisters have suffered. We will also go and watch the film. The people in West Benegal will not accept the ban on this film," he said.
If a movie has been made tax-free, it does not mean that the tickets will be available for free. It means that the state has waived the levy of entertainment tax and the tickets will be available at a discount.
