Tamil composer and actor Vijay Antony’s daughter Meera died by alleged suicide on Tuesday. The news of her passing came as a profound shock to the entire Tamil entertainment industry, prompting an outpouring of condolences from industry professionals on social media. On Wednesday morning, Meera's remains were taken to a church situated in Nungambakkam for her funeral rites. It was at this moment when Fatima Vijay Antony, her mother, broke down into tears.

According to a post shared by Thanthi TV on X, previously known as Twitter, Fatima said during Meera’s last rites, “I carried you in the womb… You could have said a word to me.”

On Tuesday, after the news of Meera’s death surfaced online, several celebrities from the Tamil industry expressed their grief on social media. Vijay’s friend Vishal took to his official X account and penned, “Writing with a heavy heart and a wavery mind. The news of my dear friend and classmate actor @vijayantony’s daughter leaving this world all of a sudden and all of us behind is unimaginable and unable to digest. May her soul rest in peace. Dear Raja am always there for u as a friend and brother. Be strong. Life is just unpredictable, no words will sooth u or make u come to terms. My deepest condolences to the entire family and may God give enough strength to the family to overcome this tragedy. I leave these words once again with an utmost blank mind.”
