Actress Janhvi Kapoor has finally addressed the abrupt shelving of the film Dostana 2 and shed light on the rumoured fallout between Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar. The movie, which was set to star Janhvi alongside Kartik Aaryan and Laksh Lalwani, faced delays and ultimately got shelved, leading to various speculations regarding the reasons behind it.

Janhvi in a conversation with The Lallantop revealed that the cast had shot for the film for about 30 to 35 days before it was shelved. She expressed her confusion over the decision, stating, “I don’t know why the film was shelved. We began shooting for that film long before Covid. And then Covid happened and there was a delay of over one-and-a-half years. Then people felt that to restart the film… I don’t know.”

Regarding the rumoured discord between Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar, Janhvi clarified, “I don’t think it was that. I think work is extremely important for both of them. But unke beech kya hua kya nahi hua, you should ask them about it.”

Kartik Aaryan had previously addressed his exit from the film in 2022, stating, “I just focus on my work. That’s all I would like to say on this. Look at my (film) line-up (right now).” He dismissed rumours of any major conflict, emphasizing that people often blow things out of proportion.

In November last year, Karan Johar announced a new collaboration with Kartik Aaryan, seemingly putting an end to any lingering tensions. He shared the news on social media, expressing his excitement for the upcoming project and wishing Kartik a happy birthday.

Despite the shelving of Dostana 2, fans can look forward to seeing Kartik Aaryan in a new project helmed by Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor, set to release on 15th August 2025.
