In a major setback for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the party's seven Rajya Sabha MPs, including Raghav Chadha, Ashok Mittal, and Sandeep Pathak, decided on Friday to leave the party and join the BJP. Leaders like Chadha and Swati Maliwal had maintained a distance from the party line for the past few months. However, what surprised many was Mittal's name in the list, as the AAP recently appointed him as the party's deputy leader in the upper house.

Arvind Kejriwal, former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP's convenor, has not directly spoken on Mittal's exit; however, his post just a few hours ago about the political shift has caught attention. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Kejriwal asserted that his family has shifted to the new house allocated by the government. He has been residing in Mittal's bungalow on Feroz Shah Marg since he stepped down as the Delhi chief minister.

"In the recent days, the central government had allotted me a house on the orders of the court, given my position as the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party. I have now shifted to that house along with my family," Kejriwal said in his post. The timing of the post suggests that the AAP convenor left Mittal's residence to avoid any moment of awkwardness.

While taking a jibe at Kejriwal, Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra, in a post on X, claimed that the AAP convenor left the house following Mittal's decision to join the BJP. "The funniest thing is that Kejriwal was camped out at Ashok Mittal ji’s house until this morning. Today, Ashok Mittal ji quit AAP, so Kejriwal had to vacate," Mishra said on X.

Earlier this month, Mittal's residence and his business enterprises were raided by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Kejriwal stated that the leaders have betrayed the people of Punjab by joining the BJP.
