Jagran Correspondent, Agra: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate a Kanpur Metro corridor and four metro stations in Agra on July 10. As per the reports, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has begun preparations for the inauguration ceremony. The inauguration of metro stations is likely to boost the regional connectivity and provide convenience to the residents. Along with cutting the travel time, the metro services will also reduce the traffic congestion in the key regions of Agra.
The reports suggest that a meeting regarding the inauguration ceremony and project will soon be held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The officials stated that the decoration of SN Medical College, Agra College, Raja Ki Mandi, and RBS College stations will begin once permission is granted. Apart from this, the inauguration of ISBT, Guru Ka Tal, and Sikandra Tiraha stations will take place in the second week of September.
The officials, while providing details, stated that a 30-kilometer-long metro track is being constructed in the city. The first corridor is 14 kilometers long and passes through key regions of Agra, including Taj East Gate, Fatehabad Road, and Sikandra Tiraha. The officials stated that the metro operations began on six kilometers a year and a half ago, adding that the service on another six kilometers will begin soon.
As per the reports, testing work has been completed on the up and down lines from Mankameshwar Station at Bijlighar Square to RBS College Station. Joint General Manager Public Relations Panchanan Mishra said that there is a proposed program for the inauguration of four stations on July 10. He further stated that the work on the second corridor will be completed by June 2027.
The metro services in the crucial regions of the city are likely to benefit the residents by improving their travel experiences.
