Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja was declared the heir to the Maharaja of the erstwhile princely state of Nawanagar, now known as Jamnagar in Gujarat, by his uncle, Maharaja Shatrusalyasinh Jadeja, on the occasion of Dussehra. "Ajay Jadeja taking up the responsibility of serving the people of Jamnagar is truly a boon for its people. I express my sincere gratitude to him," Maharaja Jamsaheb, as he is popularly called, declared in a statement on Saturday.

The announcement marks a significant moment for the 53-year-old Jadeja, who has deep-rooted ties to the Jamnagar royal family. Ajay Jadeja is a direct descendant of the Jamnagar royal family and the nephew of Jamnagar Maharaja Shatrusalyasinh Jadeja. His father, Daulatsinghji Jadeja, served as a Member of Parliament from Jamnagar for three consecutive terms between 1971 and 1984.
Ajay Jadejas mother hails from Alappuzha, Kerala, and he is married to Aditi Jaitly, daughter of politician Jaya Jaitly. The couple has two children, Aiman and Ameera.
According to media reports, Ajay Jadeja’s family has a prestigious legacy in Indian cricket. His relatives, KS Ranjitsinhji and KS Duleepsinhji, are iconic names in the sport, with the renowned Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy reportedly named in their honour.

Following his designation as the successor to the Jamnagar throne, Ajay Jadeja’s net worth has reportedly surged to over Rs 1,455 crore, which is even higher than that of Indian cricket star Virat Kohli, whose net worth stands at approximately Rs 1,000 crore, according to reports by OneIndia. Jadeja’s substantial wealth comes from his ancestral property, further boosting his financial standing.
