Andhra Pradesh Accident: In a tragic incident, 42 passengers got injured after a high-speed Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus they were travelling in crashed into a culvert in Andhra Pradesh's Chandragiri.
As per the information, the incident took place on Sunday night while the bus carrying 42 people was en route to Tirupati.
Providing details, the police indicated that the accident is expected to have taken place due to the driver's negligence. The officials said that he was speeding and lost control, due to which the bus veered off the road.
On Monday, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) B Prasad said, "It was a straight road with no engineering defect. As per the preliminary investigation, the driver was overspeeding and lost control of the bus, leading to the accident."
He added that all the passengers sustained injuries in the accident near Agarala Narayana College. The police have registered a case, and the investigation has started.
In a separate incident, at least 13 people were killed and 12 others were injured after a mini truck carrying over 50 people collided with a speeding trailer truck in Chhattisgarh's Raipur. The accident took place near Saragaon on the Raipur-Balodabazar road.
The deceased include four children and nine women. Police officials said a family from Chataud village had gone to Bansari village to attend a family function. While returning, the truck they were travelling in collided with a trailer near Saragaon under the Kharora police station area.
Soon after getting information, a team of cops was rushed to the spot and the injured were taken to Raipur's Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Hospital.
Raipur district collector Gaurav Singh said district administration officials also reached the spot. Thirteen people died and 11 people were injured in the accident, he said.
