Bengaluru Ejipura Flyover: Bengaluru’s long-delayed Ejipura flyover project has once again come under public scrutiny, this time over safety concerns. Residents and commuters reported visible structural damage to the under-construction flyover on Saturday, triggering outrage online.

The incident came to light when a commuter travelling towards Sony Signal noticed traffic being diverted near the Ejipura junction. Police had barricaded the stretch after parts of the flyover appeared to be breaking apart. Sharing photos on social media, the commuter wrote that concrete seemed to be “shattering” from the unfinished structure.

The post quickly went viral, with several users expressing anger over the poor quality of civic infrastructure in the city. “Large chunks of concrete were falling down,” one commuter commented, while another called it “an Independence Day gift from BBMP.” Many users demanded accountability from the agencies responsible for the project.

Construction of the Ejipura flyover began in 2017 with the promise of easing congestion between Ejipura and Koramangala. Initially planned as a two-year project, it has now stretched to over eight years. The project has been delayed repeatedly due to land acquisition hurdles, changes in contractors and prolonged bureaucratic processes.

Over the years, the flyover has turned into a symbol of civic neglect and mismanagement, often mocked in memes as a “monument” to inefficiency. For Bengaluru residents already grappling with pothole-ridden roads, frequent flooding and exposed wires, the latest safety scare has further eroded public trust in city infrastructure.

Public anger remains strong, with many online voices insisting that only collective outrage can push authorities into action. For now, traffic diversions remain in place, while officials have not issued a detailed clarification on the reported damage.
