Bengaluru Rain:  Weather took a pleasant turn in Bengaluru on Wednesday evening after several parts of the city were lashed by heavy rainfall, hailstorms, and strong winds. The sudden change in weather brought a much-needed respite for the people from scorching weather and heatwave.

However, sudden and heavy rains also caused waterlogging and traffic congestion in many areas. The peak-hour showers caught commuters, especially two-wheeler riders, off guard.

Waterlogging reported in these areas

Bengaluru Traffic Police, in a post on X, said that traffic movement was slow in several areas due to waterlogging.

The areas include Tavarekere Main Road towards Hopcoms, Varthur towards Gunjur, Ayappa Underpass towards Madival Police Station, Dommaluru, Old Airport Road Agaram, Chikpet Main Road, Bannerughatta Main Road, Chinnappa Layout Mahadevpur, Sarakki Junction, Lalbagh Main Road, Kodichikkanahalli Main Road and BB Junction Mysore Road.

Trees fall, disrupting traffic movement

Tree falls were also reported in parts of the city, which disrupted traffic movement during the peak hours. An incident of a tree falling was reported on the Sirsi Road towards Chamarajpete.

Similar incidents were reported on Jayamahal Road towards Mekhri Circle, near Modi Hospital, Basaweshwara Nagara towards Navarang Junction, at Palace Guttahalli towards Cauvery Theatre Junction and at Naga Junction towards War Junction, among others.

Earlier, India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an Orange alert of hailstorms, rainfall, thunderstorms, accompanied by strong winds in Karnataka.
