Bengaluru Namma Metro Yellow Line: The much-awaited Yellow Line will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 10. The launch comes 10 days ahead of the scheduled deadline of August 15. As per the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), trains on this line will run between 5 am and 11 pm but only every 25 minutes. The one-way travel time on the Yellow Line is estimated to be 38 minutes.
Bengaluru’s Namma Metro Yellow Line, which links RV Road in South Bengaluru to Bommasandra in the city’s southeastern industrial belt, will benefit lakhs of commuters and reduce traffic pressure on the roads.
BMRCL has decided to open all 16 stations on the Yellow Line. The trains will run at 25-minute intervals, with just three driverless trainsets available initially, Deccan Herald reported.
“With a 25-minute frequency, we don’t expect many passengers to use the Yellow Line at first,” a senior BMRCL official told Deccan Herald. “But ridership should rise to 1.5–2 lakh per day once all 15 trains are in operation early next year.”
Spanning over 19.15 kilometres, the Bengaluru Namma Metro Yellow Line connects RV Road to Bommasandra. It is part of Phase 2 of the Namma Metro project. It aims to connect major tech and industrial hubs, such as Electronic City, HSR Layout, and Bommasandra, to RV Road, which links to the existing Green Line. Further expansion of the Yellow Line will improve connectivity across the city as it will connect the Pink Line at Jayadeva Hospital and the Blue Line at Silk Board.
