Bengaluru Crimes: An elderly man has approached High Ground police, demanding action against a fake for stealing his navaratha gold ring, worth 70,000, by diverting his attention, the Times of India reported.  The 53-year-old A V Venkatakrishnaiah works as a car driver at a Jewellery firm.

The report added that the incident took place in the afternoon on April 19 in front of a five-star hotel in Vasanth Naga. I was on a call when a sadhu in saffron clothes approached me. He said he was tired and wanted rest. Before I could respond, he got in the car and asked for some water," ToI quoted Venkatakrinaiah.

The complainant further elaborated on the incident, saying "He gave me five rudrakshas and asked me to return four. He then asked me to wrap one rudraksha in a piece of paper. He cut one inch of his hair and gave it to me to wrap along with rudraksha. After I wrapped it, he asked me to open it. To my surprise, there was a rose in the paper.” He further added that unexplainable circumstances led him to give his ring voluntarily.

The sadhu told me in Hindi, it was a good sign and requested my gold ring. When I refused to give him the ring, he shouted at me and applied bhasma (ash) on my forehead and his. I didn't know what happened to me after that, but I removed my ring and gave it to him," he added.

After getting out of the car, the sadhu told Venkatakrishnaiah to drive away without turning back, otherwise he would be in trouble. Venkatakrishnaiah came to his senses after driving for a while.

A senior police officer said, "Venkatakrishnaiah claims the sadhu undressed and flashed before getting into the car. We are verifying the CCTV camera footage from other buildings to ascertain clues."

As per the report, the officer further informed that a case has been registered under BNS section 303 (theft), and the investigation is underway.
