Bengaluru News: Two engineering students from Bengaluru lost their lives in a car accident near Channarayapatna in Hassan district on Saturday. The five students were returning home for the weekend when their car overturned and veered off the road.
According to The Hindu report, the deceased have been identified as 19-year-olds Suraj and Aneesh. Three other students, Bhuvan, Vishal and Poornachandra, sustained serious injuries in the crash.
C.N. Balakrishna, the MLA of Shravanabelgola, was passing by and stopped to help. He arranged for the injured students to be taken to a hospital in Bellur Cross. Channarayapatna Traffic Police arrived at the scene to assist with the situation.
In another similar accident on Sunday evening near Amanikere in Channarayapatna taluk, a man and his eight-year-old son lost their lives. The victims have been identified as 28-year-old Rakesh, a resident of Shravaneri village and his son, Mokshith. Rakesh’s wife, Asha, was injured in the crash.
On Sunday, Mokshith had been with his grandparents in Hirehalla. Rakesh and his wife were on their way to return him to Shravaneri when their car collided head-on with another vehicle near Ammanakatte. The three injured individuals were rushed to the government hospital in Channarayapatna, where doctors declared Rakesh and Mokshith dead on arrival. Asha is currently receiving treatment.
The Channarayapatna Traffic Police have filed a case and are investigating the incident.
In separate news, three people were killed in a car crash on the service lane beneath the Chennai-Bengaluru Highway (NH 44) in Konavattam, Vellore, on Wednesday. The victims identified as M. Sowbarsadhik (33), S. Anes Ali (22) and N. Ushman (35) were travelling to Bengaluru for a business trip when Ali lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a parked lorry due to thick mist. A fourth occupant, M. Malik Basha (35), was injured. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
