Bengaluru Weather News: After a month-long scorching heat in March, Bengaluru weather took a turn as pre-monsoon showers hit the city in April. Waking up with cloudy skies, Bengaluru is anticipated to witness rainfall on Thursday, with the maximum and minimum temperatures to range between 33 to 23 degrees Celsius. The weather is expected to remain pleasant with no more fluctuations expected throughout the day.
Bengaluru Rains
Bengaluru made up for the dry spell over March with a shower-filled April. The Silicon Valley of India generally sees 54.3mm of rainfall in April, but this year it received a substantial 86.3mm — an excess of 59 pc.
Bengaluru Weather Forecast: IMD Anticipates Rain, Thunderstorm
Bengaluru weather is in for a wet start to May, with the Indian Meteorological Department anticipating rain and thunderstorms over the first week of May. From May 1 to May 3, Sporadic rain is expected in the afternoon and evening. May 4 is most likely to remain cloudy. The intensity of rain is likely to pick up on May 5, with consistent rain on May 6.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), the state saw a dramatic shift, from deficit to surplus rainfall in just a month.
According to an IMD scientist, quoted by the Times of India, "Until March 30, Karnataka should have received 13.1mm of rainfall but recorded only 13mm, with most of the interior districts remaining dry.” The scientist added, “By April 30, the state received 68.8mm of rain against the normal 45.9mm, that’s 50 pc above average.”
Bengaluru Rain Affects Daily Life
Pre-monsoon showers across 47 wards of the city provided residents with much-needed respite from summer heat. The relief was from the heat, as waterlogging caused slow-moving traffic in several locations. Bengaluru traffic police provided real-time updates and advisories through its X platform.
