Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha Governor Raghubar Das after stepping down from his post, hinted at a return to active politics in Jharkhand under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). While speculation is rife about his potential new role, Das stated that his next responsibilities will be decided by the party’s central leadership. Having served as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, discussions are underway regarding possibilities ranging from his involvement in the state BJP unit to his potential appointment as the National President of the party.

While addressing the media, Das said, “The BJP will decide my next role. Whatever responsibility the party gives me, I will fulfill it with utmost dedication.”

Raghubar Das, who served as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand in the past, is believed to be preparing for a significant position, with discussions ranging from his involvement in the Jharkhand BJP unit to a possible national role.

On September 11, Das had changed colour of the profile picture of Odisha Governor Raghunar Das on X and Facebook, sparking speculations over his return to Jharkhand politics once again. Interestingly, Das changed the frame of his profile picture on social media platforms to green and saffron for some time, but as soon as it went viral on social media, it was replaced with the earlier photograph.

Das resigned from the Governor’s position on Tuesday and visited the Jagannath Temple in Puri on Wednesday to seek blessings from Lord Jagannath. Expressing gratitude, he said, “I feel fortunate to have had the chance to serve the people of Odisha.”

While addressing reporters in Puri, Das lauded the development efforts in Odisha under the BJP-led central government, saying, “I salute the enthusiasm of the people of Odisha. With the double-engine government, Odisha is on a path of growth, and I am confident it will become a developed state by 2036.”

Das also described himself as a loyal party worker, adding, “I have been with the BJP since the 1980s and will always abide by the party’s instructions. I consider myself a humble worker of the party.”

Raghubar Das was appointed as the Governor of Odisha on October 18, 2022. His resignation marks his return to the political forefront, and his next role in the BJP will soon be announced, sparking curiosity among party members and political analysts alike.
