Chandigarh Blast: A loud explosion was heard outside the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Chandigarh's Sector 37 on Wednesday evening, prompting an immediate response from security agencies.

"We heard the sound of the explosion. How did it take place? We could see some signs on the boundary wall. Only police can provide details," Joshi said.

Following the incident, senior police officials, including Senior Superintendent of Police Kanwardip Kaur, along with the CFSL team, rushed to the site and cordoned off the area. Initial investigation that two persons arrived on a two-wheeler, got down, and allegedly hurled a crude-type device at the office.

"Around 5 pm, we got information of a sound outside the BJP office in Sector-37, we responded, we reached in 10 minutes... We found a crude type object was thrown, maybe it was a mischief, we are verifying the details, CFSL, NIA, Crime Branch teams are here, we are investigating, we will be sharing further information," Kaur said.

According to eyewitnesses, deep marks were seen on the ground following the incident, highlighting the severity of the blast. However, no casualties or injuries have been reported so far. An investigation is underway, and further details are awaited.

Explosion Heard Near Punjab BJP Office

State BJP leader Vinnet Joshi said that sounds resembling an explosion were heard around 5 PM.

"At around 5 pm, a blast occurred here, and a lot of smoke was seen. There was an atmosphere of panic after the blast. A scooty and a car were damaged. This is a matter of concern. A blast taking place near the party office is a matter of concern. For the last four days, the BJP State Working President was staying here, and a blast taking place at this time is a serious concern," Joshi said.

Reacting to the incident, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh said, "I am deeply concerned by the news of the explosion outside the Punjab BJP office in Chandigarh. I pray that all our leaders and staff present in the office are safe. I urge the local administration and police authorities to take immediate cognisance of this serious situation and ensure swift action."
