Tamil Nadu Weather: The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has warned of extremely heavy rain, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and squalls in multiple Tamil Nadu districts from May 27, Tuesday. IMD has issued an orange alert for ghat areas of Coimbatore and the Nilgiris for next four days. Intense showers are also likely to hit Tiruppur, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Erode, Krishnagiri, and Dharmapuri districts for two days, May 27 and 28, Tuesday and Wednesday Meanwhile, Chennai saw partly cloudy skies on Tuesday.

“Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Tamilnadu, some more parts of Westcentral & North Bay of Bengal,” said IMD in its bulletin,
“A Low Pressure Area is likely to form over Westcentral and adjoining North Bay of Bengal around May 27,” the bulletin added.

May 28: Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at a few places over Nilgiris and Ghat areas of Coimbatore districts. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni, Tenkasi, Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli districts.
May 29: Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at a few places over Nilgiris, Ghat areas of Coimbatore district; at isolated places over Tenkasi, Ghat areas of Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari districts. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tiruppur, Dindigul and Theni districts.
