India-China Border Row:  Asserting that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral and inseparable part of India, the Congress on Tuesday strongly opposed China's claim that the state is a part of Chinese territory. The party has also called upon the Modi government to immediately refute Chinese claims in the strongest possible terms.

Taking to the microblogging website 'X' (formerly Twitter), Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge slammed the Chinese side for making 'ludicrous and farcical' claims. The leader said that the Congress party strongly condemns and opposes any Chinese claims on Arunachal Pradesh, which 'is an inalienable, indistinguishable and inseparable part of India.'

"The Indian National Congress strongly condemns and opposes any idea of an iota of Chinese claims on Arunachal Pradesh. This is the 4th time in a month, that the Chinese, from its highest offices, have made completely ludicrous and farcical claims. China's record in making absurd claims by renaming places and redrawing maps of territories, belonging to other countries, is well known," Kharge said.

Kharge also highlighted that such issues of sovereignty are bigger than any partisan politics and must be criticised unequivocally.

"Moving beyond partisan politics, we are together in protecting India's sovereignty and territorial integrity," he wrote in the post.

While terming Chinese audacity at the LAC as a result of PM Modi's inaction, Kharge took a jibe at him saying that he hasn't opened his 'Laal Aankh' towards China.

"...However, it may also be underlined that Chinese belligerence is the result of PM Modi not acting on its "Laal Aankh" and giving CLEAN CHIT to China on Galwan on June 19th, 2020, where 20 Indian Bravehearts sacrificed their lives for the nation. Be it building villages at the border close to Arunachal Pradesh or be it kidnapping our people living near the borders - Modi Govt's 'Please China Policy' has endangered our National Security in Arunachal," he added.

INC chief said that he hopes for a strong rebuttal by the Modi government to the Chinese 'pathetic' claims.

"Apart from Ladakh, 'Modi Ki Chinese Guarantee' is being played up in Arunachal Pradesh. We still hope that the Modi Govt will come out with the strongest rebuttal to the Chinese on their pathetic claims. We want peace and tranquillity at our borders," the post further read.
