Amid the rising Covid-19 cases in India, the ministers, who are going to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence, are set to undergo an RT-PCR test before the meeting. The total tally of the active cases in India crossed the 7,000 mark on Wednesday.

According to India Today, around 70 BJP functionaries from Delhi, including the Chief Minister, all seven MPs and MLAs, to undergo testing today, June 11. The testing is mandatory for all ministers before meeting PM Narendra Modi.

PM Narendra Modi has invited all state party leaders to his residence at 7:30 PM to mark the BJP’s win in the Delhi Assembly Elections, sources said.

The Union Health Ministry on Wednesday, June 11, said in an official statement that India has reported 306 fresh Covid-19 cases and six deaths in the past 24 hours. The total active number of cases rose to 7,121.

According to the official data, Kerala has recorded 170 fresh cases, the highest number of cases in a single day in the last 24 hours. Gujarat has reported 114 new cases, followed by Karnataka with 100 new cases. There is a surge in the number of cases in Delhi. It recorded 66 fresh cases, and the total tally rose to 757.

The rising COVID-19 cases in India are attributed to the new variants LF.7, XFG, JN.1and NB.1.8.1, the chief of the Indian Council of Medical Research said. These are the subvariants of Omicron, which were behind in the previous Covid-19 wave. It came out of a genome sequencing in the south and the west.

Though the Health Ministry has said that the COVID-19 cases are mild in nature, mock drills are conducted across India to check the preparedness of health care centres. The Ministry has instructed the states to ensure the adequate supply of oxygen, ventilators, isolation beds and necessary drugs.
