Delhi Ashram Scandal: Accused of the Delhi Ashram scandal, Baba Chaitanyanand, a self-styled godman who sexually harassed 17 management students, particularly those enrolled in the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category, hopped from several hotels during 50 days, when he was at large. Chaitanyananda preferred staying in cheap hotels with no CCTV cameras so that the investigator could not trace him, as per the police.

According to sources, his aids would choose hotels for him, NDTV reported. The police are in search of Chaitanyanand’s associates, who couldn’t be traced till now.

The 62-year-old Baba was eventually traced to a Hotel room in Agra on Sunday and is currently in police custody. According to sources, Chaitanyanand wasn’t cooperating with the police nor properly answering any questions. He claimed, during the investigation, that he was ‘anxious’ and all the allegations against him were ‘baseless’.

Three of Baba’s phones and an iPad have been sent for forensic investigation, as he claimed that he has forgotten the passwords of his devices.

What Is Delhi Ashram Molestation Case

- Baba Chaitanyanand alias Partha Sarathy, who served as the 'director' of a privately-run management institute, harassed female students from underprivileged families at the institute.

- The management institute, the Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management, in Delhi's posh Vasant Kunj area, is associated with a unit of a prominent South Indian ashram, Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetha in Sringeri.

- The tale of molestations came to light after an alumnus shot off a letter to the management of Sri Sharada Institute. Complaints against Baba range from using abusive language, sending lewd text messages to women, and forced physical contact.

Lewd Message, Physical Favours For Free Trip Abroad

The WhatsApp messages sent by Baba to female students revealed that Chaitanyananda sent lewd texts to a student, luring her with a free trip abroad if she came to his room.
