Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway: Work On 144 Km Jammu Kashmir Stretch To Be Completed By March 2026 | Details

Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway:  The full 144-kilometre stretch of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Greenfield Expressway in Jammu and Kashmir will be completed by the end of March next year, with three packages set to be available by the end of September this year.

In response to a question on when the expressway would be finished, Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Jairam Gadkari gave this information in the Lok Sabha. According to him, eight packages in Punjab, five in Jammu and Kashmir, and five in Haryana make up the expressway's total of eighteen packages. The project also includes three spur lines, all of which are in Punjab.

Work is underway on all five packages, spanning 144 kilometres in Jammu and Kashmir. Three of these will be finished this year, and the other two will be finished by March 31, 2026.

Work on the first two packages, which were 44.6 and 35.15 kilometres in length, started in September 2022 after they were granted in December 2021. While the second is anticipated to be ready by September 2025, the first will be finished in July of this year.

The construction of the third package, which spans 20.38 kilometres and was awarded in October 2021, is scheduled to be finished by September of the current year. Its construction started in September 2022.

The fourth package, which spans 28.92 kilometres, was granted in August 2022, with construction beginning in June 2023. It is anticipated to be completed in February 2026. The last package of 15.3 km was granted in March 2023, with construction beginning in November 2023. It is projected to be completed in March 2026.
