Delhi Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, Gurgaon, and Faridabad on Monday, June 23, warning of heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and gusty winds.
According to the IMD, Delhi is expected to experience light to moderate rainfall throughout the day on Monday, with wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph. In its weekly weather bulletin, the IMD stated, “During evening, Light to Moderate Rainfall, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning & gusty winds (30-40 kmph).” Similar weather conditions are likely to continue into the night.
The weather department has predicted that similar conditions will persist over the next two days, June 24 and 25. Tuesday’s forecast indicates multiple rounds of showers across various parts of Delhi.
“During morning, Light to Moderate Rainfall, Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning & gusty winds (30-40 kmph),” IMD said, adding that the pattern is expected to repeat in the forenoon, afternoon, evening, and night.

According to the IMD forecast for Monday, June 23, Delhi can expect a pleasant day with cloudy skies and a maximum temperature around 36 degree celsius. Light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching up to 50 kmph, is likely. A yellow alert has been issued for rain and thunderstorms.
As the monsoon approaches Delhi, the city is expected to experience continuous rainfall throughout the week of June 22-29. A yellow alert remains in effect through June 24. Here's a detailed forecast for the coming days.
June 24 (Tuesday): A yellow alert has been issued by the IMD, with rain and thunderstorms expected in the capital. Skies will remain cloudy, and the maximum temperature is likely to reach 34 degree celsius.
June 25 (Wednesday): Thunderstorms accompanied by rain are forecast, with the maximum temperature holding steady at 35 degree celsius.
June 26 (Thursday): A generally cloudy sky with light rain and possible thunderstorms or lightning is expected. The maximum temperature will remain around 35 degree celsius.
June 27 (Friday): Rain is expected to continue in Delhi, with the maximum temperature hovering around 34 degree celsius.
June 28 (Saturday): The IMD predicts a generally cloudy sky with a chance of rain or thunderstorms. The maximum temperature is expected to be 34 degree celsius.
June 29 (Sunday): Rain or thundershowers are likely, with the maximum temperature remaining at 34 degree celsius.
Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall across northwest India, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and the Konkan and Goa regions until June 26. Madhya Pradesh is expected to face extremely heavy downpours specifically on June 23 and 24.
As per the IMD cited by ANI, "The southwest monsoon has advanced further over most parts of Himachal Pradesh, the entire Ladakh and Kashmir, most parts of Jammu, and some parts of Punjab."
“Conditions are favourable for the Southwest monsoon to advance further over the remaining parts of the North Arabian Sea, some more parts of Rajasthan and Punjab, some parts of Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi, and the remaining parts of West Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu during the next two days,” it added.
