The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit on Monday officially debunked a fabricated social media post that falsely attributed remarks to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar regarding the ‘Cockroach Janta Party.’ They confirmed that no such statement was ever made and warned citizens against propaganda.

PIB Fact Checks Debunks Fake Video

Recently, a fake video of Jaishankar went viral online, claiming that he had asked US President Donald Trump and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to hand over the handlers of the Cockroach Janta Party to New Delhi as they are using America as a launch platform for anti-India movements. However, the PIB has now confirmed that the original video was edited and manipulated.

According to the PIB, the viral video is completely fake and digitally altered using AI technology. The original speech of Jaishankar was reportedly edited to create false statements that he never made.

“Propaganda accounts are circulating a digitally altered video of External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar claiming that he has requested US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and President Donald Trump to hand over the handlers of Cockroach Janta Party to India as they are using America as a launch platform for anti-India movements,” the statement noted.

The PIB fact check unit further advised people to not trust or share such fake content without verification. It also shared the original and unedited video. “The video is #Fake and AI-generated. EAM @DrSJaishankar did NOT make any such statement in the original video,” the post added.

SC Refuses Urgent Plea In CJP Row

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has declined to urgently list petitions related to the “Cockroach Janta Party” online movement, observing that there was no immediate urgency in the matter.

A bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, along with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and VM Pancholi, stated that the petitions would be heard in due course. When lawyers sought urgent listing, the Chief Justice responded that the matter should not be treated as requiring emergency attention and could be examined in due course. He also told the counsel, "Don’t take it so sentimentally."

Earlier on Saturday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had alleged that nearly 50 per cent of the followers of the CJP on social media are originating from Pakistan, while less than 10 per cent are from India.
