Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari instructed the officials to open the Dwarka Expressway in Gurugram for public use. Gadkari asked the officials to inspect the 18.9 kilometre stretch of the eight-lane expressway and allow general traffic movement following the inspection, which is expected to be done this month.

The decision was taken following the request of Gurugram Lok Sabha MP Rao Inderjit Singh in a meeting with the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. Rao Inderjit Singh, who met Gadkari on Tuesday, urged him to open the Gurugram part and give relief to the people of Gurugram. Gadkari agreed and instructed the officials to visit the expressway and make it operational.

The expressway, which connects Gurugram and Delhi, is expected to ease the traffic congestion and provide a smooth commute for the residents of Gurugram. The Gurugram portion of the expressway has been completed, while the Delhi portion may take another four to five months to finish.

MP Rao Inderjit Singh also discussed various other national highway projects with Gadkari and demanded the completion of the delayed ones at the earliest. He raised the issue of building an elevated road from Hero Honda Chowk to Umang Bhardwaj Chowk in Gurugram, which was notified as a part of NHAI in 2017, but was not taken up by the authorities. Gadkari assured him that the road would be considered as a part of NH and a plan would be prepared to make it elevated.

Gadkari said that a new plan for toll collection has been devised and the toll plaza would be removed soon. He also said that the construction work of the national highway would be completed by July.

Rao Inderjit Singh also requested Gadkari to finalise the Nuh to Firozpur Jhirka four-lane DPR and to start the work of underpasses at Pachgaon Chowk, Rathiwas Chowk and Salawas Chowk soon.
