Farmers Protest: Amid calls issued by farmers' organisations including Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha to hold a ‘Delhi Chalo’ march on February 13, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar-led government has prepared iron nails, cement barricades, suspension of internet and SMS services, and heavy police deployment to block the farmers.

The move comes as farmers are preparing a march to the national capital on Tuesday to press the central government to accept their various demands.
Farmers' 'Delhi Chalo' March: Here Are The Top Updates
- Ahead of farmers' proposed march to the national capital on February 13, all of Haryana's borders with Punjab have been sealed with huge cement barricades and barbed wires. Meanwhile, Section 144 has been imposed in Haryana’s Panchkula region on Sunday.

- According to Panchkula DCP Sumer Singh Pratap, processions, protests, and march pasts on foot or with tractor trolleys and other vehicles, as well as carrying of any sticks, rods, or any weapons are restricted.
- The Haryana government has also ordered the suspension of mobile internet services in seven districts of the state including Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad, and Sirsa.

- Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher on Saturday said that the Centre had called the farmers for a meeting on February 12 to discuss their demands. According to Pandher, three Union Ministers including Piyush Goyal, Arjun Munda and Nityanand Rai will arrive in Chandigarh on February 12 to hold talks with a deputation of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha.
- The Haryana-Punjab border at Shambhu was closed for vehicular movement towards Ambala and Delhi. It even caused significant traffic congestion, which caused inconvenience to commuters travelling to Ambala. Meanwhile, farmers also took out a tractor march as part of their preparations to march to the national capital.
What Farmers Are Demanding?
Over 200 farmer unions are expected to begin the march on February 13 over several demands including the enactment of a law to guarantee a minimum support price (MSP) for crops. The farmer leaders also said that the union ministers assured them that they would hold a second round of meetings to discuss their demands.
According to reports, farmers are also demanding the implementation of the Swaminathan Commission's recommendations, farm debt waiver, pensions for farmers and farm labourers, the removal of police cases, and "justice" for victims of the Lakhimpur Kheri violence.
