A Rajasthani girl was preparing for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination online, a medical licensing exam in India, compulsory for Indian citizens and OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) cardholders who obtained their MBBS degree abroad, and travelled to Delhi weekly to appear for the tests. On April 21 and 22, she stayed in Delhi and appeared for her exams. On April 23, she called her mother to say she would return by 24th morning, but never did.

A 25-year-old Bhawana Yadav completed her medical studies in the Philippines in 2023. One week, she travelled to Delhi for her weekly test and stayed in the capital city with her sister, who is preparing for UPSC, and informed her mother that she would return home after her tests; however, she was found in a hospital in Hisar with burn injuries on April 24. 

According to a report by NDTV, a man named Umesh Yadav called the medical graduate's mother to inform her that Bhawana suffered burn injuries and was admitted to Soni Hospital in Haryana's Hisar. The circumstances in which she reached there were unknown.

Due to the severity of her injuries, the 25-year-old was later shifted to SMS Hospital in Jaipur, where she died during treatment on the night of April 24, the report added. 

Gayatri Yadav, her mother, has filed a zero FIR in Jaipur. The same has been forwarded to the Hisar Civil Lines Police Station for further investigation. According to the mother of the deceased, there were sharp weapon injury marks on her daughter's abdomen, the report added. She further alleged that her daughter was stabbed and then set on fire, suggesting she was murdered. Bhawana’s personal belongings, like her laptop and mobile, were missing, the report further quoted the mother.
