Gujarat Cabinet Rejig: Ahead of the Gujarat cabinet expansion on October 17, all 16 ministers except Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel resigned on Thursday. The reshuffle will add around 10 new ministers including some prominent faces.

CM Bhupendra Patel's cabinet will be expanded on Friday at 11.30 am. The oath-taking ceremony will take place at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. Governor Acharya Devvratji will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the ministers inducted in this expansion of the state cabinet.

Half of the present ministers may be replaced, a senior BJP leader earlier said, as per news agency PTI.

Who All Are Likely To Be Inducted

Majura MLA Harsh Sanghavi is expected to be elevated to cabinet rank. At present, he is minister of state for home and sports. Another prominent name that is doing rounds include first-time MLA Rivaba Jadeja. She the wife of Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja. Rivaba is expected to be inducted from Jamnagar, as per media reports. Dr Darshita Shah, Jayesh Radadiya, Uday Kangad, Mahesh Kasvala, Hira Solanki, Arjun Modhwadia from Saurashtra are also likely to be added.

Gujarat Cabinet Composition

The Gujarat cabinet consists of a total of 17 ministers along with CM Patel. Among these, eight are cabinet-rank ministers, while as many others are Ministers of State (MoS).

Gujarat, which has a 182-member assembly, can have 27 ministers or 15 per cent of the total strength of the House.

Earlier this month, MoS in the Gujarat government, Jagdish Vishwakarma, became the new president of the Bharatiya Janata Party's state unit, replacing Union minister CR Paatil.

Bhupendra Patel took oath as Gujarat chief minister for the second time on December 12, 2022.
