Gurugram News: A 58-year-old businessman died after a speeding car struck him from behind during his morning cycling routine in Gurugram’s DLF Phase 2 area on Wednesday. The victim, identified as Amitabh Jain, was riding along the side of the road when the vehicle hit him around 7:15 AM. The driver fled the spot immediately.
CCTV footage from a nearby house has captured the sequence of events. The video shows Jain cycling at a slow pace when a Santro car suddenly swerved towards him and rammed into him. He sustained serious injuries in the impact and later died. Local residents informed the police, who began tracing the vehicle.
Police officials said the car’s registration number led them to an address in Delhi. However, when officers reached the location, both the vehicle and the driver were missing. Investigators are now working to locate the accused.
Meanwhile, Jain’s relatives and neighbours have raised concerns about how the case is being handled. They allege that the police are trying to treat the matter as a routine hit-and-run despite suspicious circumstances. According to them, the manner in which the car approached and struck Jain suggests the possibility of a planned attack.
They have demanded a detailed inquiry and urged the authorities to examine all angles, including intentional harm. Police have not yet issued a full response to these allegations and stated that the investigation is ongoing.
Jain was known to follow a regular morning cycling route.
