The Delhi High Court on Thursday rebuked yoga guru Baba Ramdev in a case related to his defamatory comments against herbal drink Rooh Afza. This came after the court was informed that Ramdev had published a fresh video having objectionable content against the product.
Justice Amit Bansal said the attitude of the Patanjali founder reveals that he was "not in control of anyone" and "lives in his own world", adding that his tone and tenor were similar to that of the previous video despite the warning.
“Para 18 was the requirement, he has not complied with that. The affidavit that you filed is prima facie contempt. He’s not in control of anyone and lives in his own world. The tone and tenor of the new video is exactly similar. You refer to Hamdard… The money goes to…. Where have you complied with Para 18? According to my seeing, of the video and the affidavit, both are non compliant,” Justice Bansal said.
Senior Advocate Rajiv Nayar, representing Ramdev and Patanjali, informed the court that the objectionable segment of the contested video would be removed from all social media platforms and any other media where it has been shared, within 24 hours.
The Court also reprimanded Ramdev for not appearing before it, as he was asked to be physically present during the hearing in the previous order. The court mentioned issuing a contempt notice against him.
