Jharkhand News:  The Enforcement Directorate on Friday sent a letter to Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren asking him to provide a time slot for questioning between the dates Jan 29 to Jan 31. In the letter, the ED also stated that if the Chief Minister does not provide a suitable time, the ED will schedule the time and conduct the inquiry on its own time.

The ED had summoned Soren for the ninth time on January 22 in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam. Responding to the summon, the CM had reportedly said on Thursday that he has received the probe agency’s summon and will reply to this in due course.

The central probe agency earlier questioned the Jharkhand CM in the land scam case on January 20 in Ranchi. Soren was questioned for nearly seven hours at his residence. Following the departure of ED officials from his residence, Soren had come out with a smile and greeted the supporters who had been waiting outside since morning. He waved to them, and they expressed their support through slogans.

“Our Opposition is trying to dominate us with the help of ED and other investigating agencies, but we are not afraid of anything because we have not done anything wrong. We will face all the conspiracies of the Central government and will win this fight,” Mr. Soren said.

Earlier in December, Soren wrote a letter to the ED, saying that he could record his statement in the land scam case at his official residence on January 20. Notably, Chief Minister Hemant Soren remained absent on the last seven summons sent by ED, saying that these summons are unconstitutional and this is being done to harass his government.
