Himachal Pradesh: The Himachal Pradesh government on Thursday announced a 24 per cent increase in salaries and allowances of MLAs and ministers, ending a seven-month-long wait. The Law Department issued a formal notification on October 14, just days ahead of Diwali. In addition to current legislators, former MLAs will also benefit from the revised pension structure.

The hike follows the Governor’s assent to three bills concerning the revision of salaries and allowances. Earlier, on March 28, the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, on the final day of the budget session, passed a bill approving a 24 per cent increase in the salaries and allowances of ministers and MLAs.

Following the 24 per cent increase, MLAs in Himachal Pradesh will receive a revised basic salary of Rs 70,000, up from the earlier Rs 55,000. Additionally, the total remuneration of each MLA has gone up from Rs 2.10 lakh to Rs 2.80 lakh, Jagran.com reported.

Revised Salaries And Allowances Of Himachal Pradesh Legislators

The Himachal Pradesh government on Thursday officially increased the salaries and allowances of the Chief Minister, Speaker, ministers, MLAs, and other legislators. The revised pay structure came into effect following the Law Department’s notification on October 14.

Revised Monthly Salaries:

Chief Minister: Rs 2,65,000 → Rs 3,50,000
Assembly Speaker: Rs 2,55,000 → Rs 3,45,000
Cabinet Speaker: Rs 2,55,000 → Rs 3,10,000
Deputy Speaker of Assembly: Rs 2,50,000 → Rs 3,40,000
MLA: Rs 2,10,000 → Rs 2,80,000

Updated Monthly Allowances:

Office Allowance: Rs 30,000 → Rs 90,000
Assembly Constituency Allowance: Rs 90,000 → Rs 1,20,000
Compensatory Allowance: Rs 5,000 → Rs 5,000

Pension For Former MLAs:

Revised Pension: Rs 1,29,000 per month
