Himachal Pradesh News: In a festive boost for government employees, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday announced a 3 per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA). The announcement, made during a conference of Electricity Board employees, comes as a Diwali gift to lakhs of state government workers.
The Chief Minister confirmed that employees would also receive arrears from April to September before Diwali. The revised DA will be added regularly from November along with the salary for October.

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu further stated that a separate notification would soon be issued for arrears pending between July 2023 and March 2025, ensuring employees receive their full dues.
This announcement has brought much relief to state employees, many of whom had been waiting months for the DA revision.
Earlier this month, HRTC employees had met Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri to press their demand for the pending DA. Their request was later presented to the Chief Minister, leading to this long-awaited decision.
In separate news, a 23-year-old woman, identified as Sanjana Kumari from Kigas, died in a tragic bus accident in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district. Sanjana, who worked at Himalayan Shawl Industries in Takkoli, was getting off a bus when the driver suddenly moved the vehicle. She slipped, fell under the wheel, and was run over. Locals rushed her to Nagawain Hospital, but doctors declared her dead. The horrifying incident left onlookers in shock. Police reached the spot, took custody of the body, and registered a case of negligent driving against the bus driver. An investigation into the accident is currently underway.
