A Bengaluru woman recently slammed and expressed her frustration towards Swiggy for assigning a delivery agent who couldn’t speak Kannada. In a post on X, the woman blasted the food delivery platform, asking them to “stop imposing” Hindi or English languages on locals. The woman shared a screengrab featuring the surname of the delivery agent and wrote, “Bengaluru is in Karnataka or Pakistan @Swiggy ? Your delivery guy is neither speaking nor understanding #kannada ,not even #English. Do you expect us to learn his state language #Hindi in our land? Stop imposing things on us and make sure your delivery persons know #Kannada.” In the last few months, cases relating to ‘language imposition’ and the North vs South debate in Karnataka have only increased, as social media is full of instances displaying the same.

A user wrote, “Is Bengaluru in Karnataka or England? As far as I know, English wasn’t originally a cultural language in Karnataka.” Another user commented, “Delivery guy’s job is to deliver food. They come from all over India. Do you expect them all to learn Kannada for delivering food?”
“As long as the delivery is done on time who cares about the linguistic skills of the delivery boy !” a third user reacted.
