In a tragic incident, four people lost their lives after a rumour of fire inside a train coach triggered panic, causing them to jump off the train. Another train was coming from the other side, crushing them to death.

According to the information, the incident took place on the Khajuraho-Udaipur Intercity Express on the Hetampur-Dholpur section in the Morena district at 4:15 PM.

The railway administration said that train number 19665 Khajuraho-Udaipur Intercity Express stopped mid-section due to a passenger in the general coach pulling the alarm chain (ACP).

The eyewitnesses said that a passenger in one of the train coaches reported heat or smoke coming from his mobile phone, leading to rumours of a fire. In panic, some passengers disembarked and reached the nearby railway line.

Meanwhile, train number 20424 Firozpur-Seoni Patalkot Express was coming from Agra and was passing by. It crushed four people.

The deceased include three women and a four-year-old child. The deceased were identified as Afreen (35), wife of Nadeem Khan, a resident of Agra, their four-year-old son Asad Khan, Shakuntala (60), wife of Bhuri Singh Parmar, resident of Runkata (Agra) and Virma Devi (60), wife of Girdhari Giri, resident of Bikaner (Rajasthan).

Upon receiving information about the incident, the railway administration, RPF, GRP, and local police arrived at the scene. The railway stated that necessary assistance is being provided to the affected passengers. A detailed investigation into the incident has been initiated.

Speaking about the incident, SP Dharmaraj Meena said, "We received information through a local resident that an incident had occurred, though the exact details were not known at that time. Our team immediately reached the spot and an ambulance was also dispatched. It has been learnt that after the Khajuraho-Udaipur Intercity train arrived, someone reportedly raised an alarm about a mobile phone spark and a possible blast-like incident. Some passengers got down from the train, and were then hit by another train coming from the opposite direction. Three women and a child died in the incident."
