Kolkata Metro: Heading out for pandal hopping this Durga Puja? You can now count on the Kolkata Metro to get you there even in the middle of the night. In a big relief for festive travelers, the city’s Metro services will run almost non-stop on the main Puja days, making it easier for people to move between Kolkata, the suburbs, and nearby districts.
As Navratri celebrations pick up, Metro Railway has announced extended hours and night-long operations across several corridors. For the first time ever, both the Blue Line (Dakshineswar-Kavi Subhash) and the Green Line (Howrah Maidan-Salt Lake Sector V) will stay open through the night on Saptami, Ashtami, and Navami that’s September 29, 30, and October 1.
Kolkata Metro: Blue Line (Dakshineswar-Kavi Subhash)
The city’s busiest route will operate from 1 PM to 4 AM on these three key Puja nights.
-> Total trains per day: 246
-> Train frequency: Every 6-7 minutes
-> Last train timings:
- 3:48 AM (Dakshineswar to Shahid Khudiram)
- 3:47 AM (Shahid Khudiram to Dakshineswar)
According to the Indian Express, on Panchami (Sept 27), there will be 262 services from 8 AM to 11 PM. On Sasthi (Sept 28), expect 246 services from 9 AM to 11 PM, and on Dashami (Oct 2), there will be 132 services from 1 PM to 10 PM, running every 8 minutes.

Kolkata Metro: Green Line (Howrah Maidan-Salt Lake Sector V)
The East-West corridor is also going all out for the festival, with night-long runs during Saptami, Ashtami, and Navami.
-> Operating hours: 1:30 PM to 4:18 AM
-> Total services per day: 192
-> Train frequency: Every 8 minutes
-> Last train timings:
- 4:06 AM (Howrah Maidan to Sector V)
- 4:18 AM (Sector V to Howrah Maidan)
On regular Puja days:
-> Panchami (Sept 27): 225 services from 7:30 AM-11:16 PM (every 6 mins)
-> Sasthi (Sept 28): 184 services from 9 AM-11:28 PM (every 8 mins)
-> Dashami (Oct 2): 74 services from 1:30 PM-10:32 PM (every 15 mins)
Kolkata Metro: Yellow Line (Noapara-Jai Hind Bimanbandar)
-> Panchami & Sasthi: Services from 3 PM to 10:35 PM (every 15 mins)
-> Saptami to Navami: Extended till 10:50 PM
-> Dashami: Last train departs at 9:20 PM
Kolkata Metro: Purple Line (Joka-Majerhat)
-> Panchami to Dashami: 38 trains will run daily from 3 PM to 10:55 PM, with a 25-minute frequency.
To help make travel smoother, Metro officials are urging passengers to opt for Smart Cards, Tourist Smart Cards, or use the Aamar Kolkata Metro app for mobile QR-based tickets to avoid standing in long queues.
