Delhi News:  A national-level boxer who doubled as a sharpshooter for the Hashim Baba and Lawrence Bishnoi gangs was arrested by the Delhi Police on Friday. The accused has been identified as Abhinav Verma, who was wanted in two cases of shootings targeting businessmen in Delhi's Kirti Nagar and Farsh Bazar areas. Police received a tip-off on March 27 that Verma was planning to meet his associates in Rohini. Verma is the second high-profile criminal nabbed in the NCR area. Earlier, today Noida Police arrested Guddu Rithori, a gang member of the Randeep Bhati gang after a brief encounter in the Greater Noida area.

Verma, who is said to have ties with multiple gangs including Rohit Godara, Hashim Baba, Kala Jatheri and Lawrence Bishnoi gangs, was arrested with a country-made pistol and two bullets.

"A trap was laid in Rohini Sector-3 and the accused nabbed. Verma told police about his connection with the Rohit Godara, Hashim Baba, Kala Jatheri and Lawrence Bishnoi gangs. A country-made pistol and two live cartridges were seized from his possession. Later, the police team also seized two sophisticated pistols, a revolver and 10 live cartridges at his instance," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Amit Kaushik said.

Multiple charges against 'Boxer'

Police revealed that Verma was arrested for the murder of his schoolmate in the Paschim Vihar area and served a six-year prison sentence. During his time in jail, he met Hashim Baba and his associate Ashish, eventually joining their gang. Upon his release on bail, he became more deeply involved in criminal activities for the gangs, the police stated.

In another incident, Noida police arrested a dreaded criminal from western Uttar Pradesh linked to gangster Randeep Bhati.

"He was held by officials of the SWAT team and the Ecotech 1 police station after they received information about the presence of some gang members in the area. A combing operation was launched in the morning, leading to Rithori's arrest," DCP of Greater Noida area Saad Miyan Khan said.
