Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh on Saturday said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has lost 8.5 kilograms of weight while in jail and added that it can be a sign of serious health condition. Singh also said that Kejriwal's blood sugar levels dropped five times, reaching as low as 50 mg/dL. 

“Losing 8.5 kgs can be a sign of a serious health condition. It is a matter of concern for us, Arvind Kejriwal and his family. His sugar level dropped below 50. You can control increasing sugar levels but not when it starts to reduce. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's blood sugar level has reduced five times,”  Singh was quoted as saying by news agency PTI. 

“His health condition is such that if he is not brought out of jail soon and provided medical care, any serious incident may happen with him,” he further added.

Singh also said that the BJP government at the Centre is aiming to keep Kejriwal in jail and play with his life. “They are hatching conspiracy so that he faces some serious health issues,” he alleged.

The development comes a day after the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Kejriwal in the excise policy case. Despite the top court’s decision to give interim bail to Kejriwal, the AAP convenor remains in jail due to a subsequent arrest by the CBI in a related case. 

Moreover, the apex court mandated interim bail contingent on certain conditions. The court had restricted Kejriwal from visiting the CM office and Delhi Secretariat during his interim release. The AAP convenor was further asked to furnish bail bonds of Rs 50,000. “The interim bail may be extended, or recalled by the larger Bench, "the Supreme Court added.

This is not the first time when party leaders expressed concerns over Kejriwal’s deteriorating health condition. Last month, the AAP said that Delhi CM’s health has been deteriorating rapidly since his arrest. The party in a statement claimed that Arvind Kejriwal's health is “highly worrisome” as he lost 8 kgs since his arrest.
